Leslie Wood is a 1983 graduate of Texas A&M University with a BBA in Accounting. She worked as an auditor with Grant Thornton in Houston, then embarked on a career of corporate accounting and financial reporting that spanned several business environments.
She was part of the change management team that helped The Wurlitzer Company through its 1987 acquisition by a group of Texas-based investors. She helped relocate the corporate offices to Houston, and then helped in the transition of its subsequent sale to The Baldwin Piano Company in 1988. During these transition periods, Leslie learned that the most valuable asset of any organization is its people.
Leslie's experience with organizational transition was expanded when she joined Legal Copies International in 1996, immediately prior to its acquisition by IKON Office Solutions. As a financial analyst and district controller for IKON Management Services, she helped establish a regional processing center that served over 700 clients. This role included locating and building-out office space, hiring and training 30 employees, creating and implementing policies and streamlining operational procedures.
As an independent consultant to IKON, Leslie developed a training manual for asset verification, and managed the monitoring/reporting system for the division's $35 million equipment portfolio. She also managed a project to review and reconcile over 500 capital leases qualifying for accelerated revenue recognition.
For six years, Leslie managed the administrative and financial operations of Unity Theatre in Brenham, Texas. She automated the accounting systems, improved transactional processing and expanded audience services. She increased subscriptions by 20%, individual donations by 70%, and developed a corporate giving program. She also implemented a recycling program which enabled the theatre to reduce playbill printing costs by 10% and solid waste by 50%.
Most recently, Leslie worked as part of the management team with Risknology Inc., an oil & gas consulting company in Houston, to define and execute a long-term growth plan for the company. This included expansion of the technical team and resources for project management, creation of an administrative team and processes to oversee daily business operations, office relocation & buildout, conversion to a cloud based enterprise system, and development of broader commercial relationships to support the growing needs of the business.
